Crashed - Kisumu, Kenya Colony. 1938 The first fatal accident to an Atalanta class aircraft occurred on 27th July 1938, when Amalthea flew into a hillside just after taking off from Kisumu. The aircraft was bound for Alexandria on transfer to India. There were no passengers on board, but the crew of four lost their lives.
