70th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST UNITED KINGDOM AERIAL POST 1911-1981 This card, designed by Ronald Maddox, is issued by the National Postal Museum to commemorate the presentation of a replica Air Mail Letter Box to the Shuttleworth Collection, Old Warden Aerodrome, Biggleswade on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the First Aerial Post in the United Kingdom. The card shows an Air Mail Letter Box outside the London EC District Office, King Edward Street, London EC1 with a special air mail collection vehicle in the background. This box was one of the first to be installed in June 1930.
This card was flown at Old Warden Aerodrome on 31st August 1981.
