G-ADUU, Cavalier, docked at Bermuda Airport, Darrell's Island

BERMUDA' S FIRST AIR SERVICE - THE FLYING BOAT
An Imperial Airways' (BOAC's predecessor) flying boat makes its way to the Bermuda Airport at Darrell's Island in the late 1930's, when the island was Bermuda's only airport. Passengers were conveyed to and from the island by launch. During World War II, the Americans built a base at St. George's which became known as Kindley Air Force Base - and American and British forces utilised Darrell's Island. Later, the island served as a television studio for a series of productions, and then as a boat slip.
